The rules people ask about
Who can play
Rulebook 1.1 to 1.4- Sixteen or older on the tournament start date. Under eighteen needs parental consent to receive a prize.
- No rank requirement.
- A player can only be on one team, and an organisation can only field one team. A second team registers separately with its own identity.
- At least four of the five starters must be residents of Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia or the UAE.
- Every player must be a resident of the EMEA region.
- You can play Pyramids Cup and Rift Legends. You cannot play two local circuits at the same time.
Rosters
Rulebook 2.3 to 2.5- Five players minimum, plus up to three substitutes. Eight on a roster at most.
- Register on the Wild Rift MENA Discord server. One captain registers for the whole team.
- Rosters lock when the qualifier stage starts. There are no changes during a stage.
- Between stages you may change at most two players, and must keep three from the roster you started with.
- Request a change through the roster changes channel. It is granted at admin discretion, not automatically.
- A team owns its slot as long as at least three players from the starting roster are in every game.
Match day
Rulebook 5.1 to 5.3- All games are on the EU server, in an EU lobby.
- In the qualifiers and the groups, teams make their own lobby and invite each other. In the playoffs the admins host.
- Only the ten players in the lobby. No spectators, except content creators who must run a 120 second delay.
- Mode is Custom, Tournament Draft.
- Game 1: the team listed FIRST on the bracket takes blue side and makes the lobby. Swiss does not seed, so bracket order is the rule. From game 2 the team that lost the previous game picks side first, in the match channel.
- Tell the admin in your match channel before you start.
- Everyone must be in the designated voice channel for the whole match.
- No tablets. Phones only, judged by GSMArena specifications.
If somebody is late
Rulebook 5.3- Ten minutes after the scheduled start with fewer than five players in the lobby: that team forfeits game one.
- Twenty minutes: they forfeit the match.
- Screenshot the lobby with the clock visible. That screenshot is what the decision is made on.
- Between maps in a Bo3 or Bo5 there is a maximum five minute break. Anything longer has to be requested.
Disconnects and remakes
Rulebook 5.4 and 5.5- Wild Rift has no pause. A disconnect does not stop the game, and play continues. Reconnect as fast as you can.
- A remake is for a genuine error such as a selection mistake or a bug. Request it in the match channel the moment it happens, with a screenshot.
- A late request will not be considered. This is the rule people lose games to.
- Admins decide. If a remake is granted it is replayed with the same picks and bans up to the point of the error.
- Do not leave a game without admin approval.
- Cheating, ghosting and stream sniping are disqualifiable.
Draft
Rulebook 5.1, Appendix 1- The qualifiers use a global ban: once your team has picked a champion, your team cannot pick it again in that series. The other team still can.
- A global ban restricts the team, not the player. Switching who plays the champion does not release it.
- From the playoff groups onwards it is Fearless draft, which is stricter: a champion picked by either team is gone for both teams for the rest of the series.
- Both reset between series. Every new series starts with the full champion pool, including a second series against the same opponent on the same night.
- Both apply to champions picked, not champions banned. A ban in game one returns to the pool in game two.
- Keep your own record of what your team has used. Tracking the pool is on both teams, not on the referee.
- If an unavailable champion is selected and it is caught in champion select, the draft is redone. If the game has already started it cannot be paused, so screenshot it and report it in the match channel while the game runs. Reported late, it is not actionable.
- Bans do not carry between games unless stated.
- A tournament wide banned champion list may be issued before or during the cup, usually after a new champion release.
Streaming and coverage
Rulebook 4- There is no official Pyramids Cup broadcast. Every stream of a Cup 8 match is a content creator streaming it themselves.
- Players may not stream their own point of view. This one catches people out, so read it twice: you cannot stream your own match.
- Content creators must ask in the match channel before streaming a game, and are recommended to run a 120 second delay.
- Ghosting, which is taking information from a stream during your own match, is disqualifiable. Admins will not act without clear evidence, so record or clip it.
- You do not need a stream to be covered. Report your result normally and it reaches the standings the same way.
Reporting a result
Rulebook 5.8- The winning team reports, in their own match channel.
- Post the end of game screenshot with the summoner names visible.
- Post the original, not a forwarded copy. Forwarding compresses the image and the small text is exactly what a dispute is checked against.
- No result posted, or a protest raised, marks the match as a conflict and an admin decides.
Points and tiebreakers
Appendix 1- Two points for a match win, none for a loss.
- Ties are broken in this order: head to head result, then overall game difference, then head to head game difference among the tied teams, then strength of schedule, then an extra Bo1 or a random draw.
Conduct and reports
Rulebook 6 and 7- Report a rule break in your match channel. Not in DMs, and not days later. Neither is actionable.
- Surrendering a match that is being covered on stream is forbidden.
- The Wild Rift Esports Global Competition Policy code of conduct applies.
- Sanctions run from a warning through game forfeiture to disqualification and a ban from future events.
The full rulebook is the final word
This page summarises the rulebook and points at the section each block came from. Where the two ever disagree, the rulebook wins, and it is what a referee rules from.
